The Katie France Story

Big love

I’m never quite sure where to start when telling the story of how this little business of mine began - because in a way, it feels like it’s been in the making my whole life. From doodling hearts all over my school books to turning up at the youth club dressed as close to a clown as I could (yes, really!), I’ve always had a thing for colour, hearts, and anything that sparks a bit of joy.

I think the Barbie fridge magnetic outfit changing toy I was given also had a massive role to play in my love of fashion. But I wasn’t always doing creative things. I have also had an office job. Yes I know hard to imagine….

Bags of joy

Fast forward a few years — when I became “Katie France Likes to Dance” (in my dance floor days my 20’s) I met loads of new people and some of them had their own clothing brands. It set me off thinking. If they can do it so can I, well I can at least give it a good go!!

So that’s what I did. In 2014 I became a kids brand called Lemonade Bubbles and I made cosmic little things. But one day I was inspired by a Lazy Oaf bag to Katiefy the heart bag and thats when the love bombs were born, in 2020

I’ve always been obsessed with fabrics and hunting for special rare materials I could use one day so I had a collection to start with — the stories old materials can tell, and the thrill of finding something that can make just one bag with, I just love it.

Made to make you smile

It felt completely natural to start creating one-of-a-kind and small runs from vintage and deadstock fabrics, while mixing in gorgeous new materials.

At the heart of it all, I just wanted to make something joyful and that I was totally besotted with — something that anyone and everyone could wear and feel good in. And that would make you smile 😊

And now, somehow, my heart shaped wonders have become little collector’s items, which still blows my mind and makes me do happy dances everyday 💖
